This text aims to make a brief review of the development ofphilosophy in Mexico and its relationship with the thought
and practice or the native cultures in the country. With that
purpose, we will start with the work carried out by Luis Villoro
on indigenism, and we will review the case of the autonomous
municipality of Cherán, this being a p’urhepecha
village of the estate of Michoacán. This will show the contribution
of the philosopher to the study and incorporation
of indigenous thinking within the philosophical tradition of
the country. Also, we will recover, for philosophical exercise,
testimonies, knowledge and action of the same indigenous
people to deal with the adversities of the contemporary
world.
