Abstract

Juan José de Eguiara y Eguren personified the New Spanish
intellectual, who was part of a mexican intellectual generation
that asked the fundamental questions to shape their
own mexican speech. The failed sages are the philosophers
without faith and religion. Eguiara was an approved sage
because he tries to understand the theology from the philosophy.
In his approvals and his sermons, Eguiara was learned
and very persuasive, a sermon’s title could make him to
think about Plato or Aristotle, thus we can see that in the xvii
century sermon, the structural part lies in logics.
