This paper shows and comments those remarks that Thomas Reid (1710-1796), the main exponent of the Scottish School of Common Sense, made about the subject of colors and «primary and secondary qualities» in his epistemological works, An Inquiry into the Human Mind on the Principles of Common Sense (1764) and Essays on the Intellectual Powers of Man (1785). The author also suggests that Reid’s theory of color is sensible, visionary and highly critical of the Idealistic tendencies of Modern Philosophy.Downloads
