The history of education, as a field and discipline of study, has existed since the professionalization and institutionalization of historical science in Mexico during the second half of the twentieth century. Therefore, today it is one of the most fruitful fields of local and national historiography. The following is a historiographic discussion that recovers the most representative themes, authors, methodologies, interpretative trends, questions and sources of the mexican XX and XXI centuries that have enriched our understanding of the past of education, hoping to awaken curiosity and imagination for new and innovative research.
