Today, in our post-capitalist consumer society, having an opinion is highly valued. We have an opinion about everything, every week, if not every day, we position ourselves on some matter. We create cracks, we stand on one side or the other, we forget that sometimes we argue to the death with people who perhaps share much more with us than we think. That is why in this article I would like to reflect on the psychic origin of empathy and, in particular, on the genesis of forgiveness in childhood.
