This study provides a critical historical overview of the situation of the Yaquis in the north of the country during the Porfirian period. The work exposes the historical and political background that led the Yaquis to rebel against the regime of Porfirio Diaz, as well as the repressions they suffered because they did not want to abide by the new model of progress that the government was promoting. The author reflects on the subhuman situation in which the Yaquis were subjected when they were sent to the henequen fields in the Yucatan. At the same time, she analyzes the image of characters like Cajeme and Tetabiate, characters who sought to vindicate their peoples.
