Abstract

The research tells the history and evolution of the territory of Paso de Sotos, currently Villa Hidalgo (Altos Norte de Jalisco, Mexico). The economic activities of the area and the participation of its inhabitants in a chapter of the Independence are mentioned. Likewise, the history of the towns is mentioned, some of them pre-Hispanic, which covered the aforementioned territory. It should be noted that the church played an important role in the formation of these regions. By means of religious registration documents, such as marriage certificates and baptismal books, it was possible to obtain data on the population (mostly of Creole origin).
