The core question of this research is the following: Why is the political cartoon in the press, as a plastic and news phenomenon, an elemental factor to understand the development of political movements in Mexico? To do so, a first approach is made about the caricature as a plastic and news phenomenon. It will be followed by a brief review of its antecedents, passing through Juarism, the Restored Republic and the Porfiriato. Finally, it delves into the case of the Multicolor and Ernesto García Cabral, during the interim government of León de la Barra and the presidential dispute; thus investigating the role of caricature in the political-media campaign against Francisco I. Madero.
