The main purpose of this work is to analyze the conformation of the Historical Library of La Iberia, a newspaper founded in 1867 by the Spanish established in Mexico Anselmo de la Portilla. It was an editorial project that brought together various historical works related to the Conquest of Mexico and the three centuries of the colonial period, and that were published between the years 1870 and 1875, through daily deliveries in the serial of said newspaper and the printing separately from serial volumes. In order to understand its conformation, various journalistic and bibliographical sources registered in the aforementioned temporality were consulted, which made it possible to identify the reasons that prompted its editor to create a bibliographical collection of this kind, the works that comprised it, the characters that participated in it, its publishing process, and the problems it faced once its issues became known (such as the lack of subscribers, among others).
