There is currently a debate on an issue that is relevant because it seeks to redress the violence and marginalization that have been inflicted on groups of people throughout Mexico's history. To address this problem in the world of academia and education policy, the concept of “interculturality” has emerged, mostly present in Latin American contexts, and that of “educational inclusion” globally. This work places in the field of discussion within higher education, which gives an opportunity to analyze the origin and present of intercultural universities, particularly in the case of Mexico. Here, too, an attempt is being made to determine the conditions under which the socio-political and educational participation of the indigenous peoples takes place.
