This article addresseses the daily life of the population of Mexico City during the first year of occupation of the french expeditionary army of june 1863 to the reception of emperors Maximilian of Habsburg and Carlota in june of 1864. After a brief overview of what the capital was like in the mid- 19th century and the occupation of Mexico City by the french army, the work focuses particularly on public shows such as theater, opera and carnaval as well as the sites of spreading of the social sectors of the mexican capital.
