Abstract

Based on the analysis of two wills and a series of different files, the objective is to find out whether poor harvests or high prices in the market harmed the Santa Lucía hacienda, so that it saw the need to sell or auction off, and to know if through the inheritance it changed its owner. The following text, only shows the stage as landowner of Br. José de Gamboa priest, and his role within the high society of Guadalajara, observing the complexity that shaped him from his office as a priest, from his relationships and businesses of which he knew capitalize on accumulating several thousand.
