Equal Marriage: A Mistake? A proposal for a solution to the conflict of egalitarian unions in Mexico

A review is made of the origins in Mesopotamia, Rome and the Canonical Code, as well as the characteristics of marriage as a religious institution that permeates today. Later, the principle of a secular state is analyzed, explaining the reasons why it exists permanently in Mexico; A series of laws and principles are listed that explain under what terms the law restricts the action of the church in political matters; finally the error of having adopted civilly the institution of marriage, which is the origin of the conflict of the present article, is put forward in order to propose the transition from a religiously influenced institution to a merely State institution.
