Abstract

The following work aims to give a brief overview of the life and contributions of the Jalisco artist José Clemente Orozco. It will be presented themes typical of his style and symbolism, which characterizes him to this day, telling the life of the author from his first scaffolding as an artist, reviewing the institutions that forged José Clemente Orozco for his initiation to muralism. Within the artist's life, it is important to highlight the social context in which he lived, since these years were the post-revolutionary years, which would bring as inspiration the post-revolutionary feeling that society was experiencing, which could not be reflected by ordinary people so easily. So the splendor of these artists was mainly given by the feeling of the nation, since they as prepared people, characters with political, economic, and above all, social knowledge, had the facility to reflect these feelings in great works of art such as murals, although it is pertinent to mention that in the specific case of Jose Clemente Orozco his background goes beyond Mexico because he had the opportunity to express his revolutionary ideology in recognized universities in the United States.
