Abstract

The figure of the knight took on great importance in the 11th and 12th centuries, as those who belonged to this group were already considered an elite body of warriors, had an education from childhood and there was an ideal of the knight. In this article, we will take a look at the history of these characters, going back to the 3rd and 4th centuries of the Roman Empire, where an order was founded that, after the Germanic influence, would lead to this group of warriors who rode on horseback and with swords, and which would later be largely made up of the French militia.
