The artist has a role within society, he can become a modifier of it and therefore has a double responsibility: his work and the inhabitants. This work deals with this character from two angles: his subjective character (when he is only immersed in the work), and the objectivity of his work and its consequences within society. The relationship between the artist and his time is discussed, then the ideas of Schiller and Plato are taken up again to talk about the influence that art exerts on society, including the political function it has had.
