The bishop's lawsuits: the allegations of don Juan de Palafox against the regular orders 1640-1650

Juan de Palafox was bishop of Puebla and Viceroy of New Spain, during his ecclesiastical position he attempted the secularization of the regular clergy. The objective of this paper is to understand the process that took place through the methodology of Global History. The article is divided into three topics: the first one talks about the Council of Trent and the Mexican provincial councils; the second one explains the history of the regular clergy in Puebla, talks about the three orders that were in the city, the role they had in society and the goods they possessed; the third one deals with secularization.
