Abstract

This work makes a general overview of avant-garde art, mainly on the artistic role of Wilfredo Lam. In this sense, the text focuses on the historical and cultural antecedents that influenced the artist's work. The study also analyzes the work The Jungle, which represents the critical and reflective vision of an artist who was overshadowed by the avant-garde movements, but who sought to reflect his memory and that of Latin American society. Lam's work carries with it a political discourse that is also a spokesman for a vision of the world that transcended through artistic representation.
