The main objective of this text is to analyze a painting by Francisco Paula Mendoza and another by José Cusachs. Since both have as their theme the battle of April 2, 1867 in Puebla, one of the greatest glories of Porfirio Díaz, both commissioned by him at the end of his mandate. However, the battle took place during the French intervention, so the work also seeks to develop this aspect. In this sense, the study studies the pictorial works from their historical and political context, which gives a new interpretation, not only to the works, but also to the image of the caudillo.
