This research focuses on the participation of the sculptor Jesús F. Contreras in the 1889 Universal Exhibition in Paris, who was in charge of carrying out everything that was exhibited in the pavilion presented by Mexico. The project that was presented was The Aztec Palace, proposed by Anza and Peñafiel, which included sculptures of Aztec gods and kings. It should be noted that the guidelines for the creation of the figures were established by Contreras, disregarding those proposed by Peñafiel.
In addition, Contreras supported the sculptor José María Velasco as a delegate of the Mexican government in one of the congresses that took place during the exhibition.
