Abstract

The article describes the social configuration of Algeria based on Arab culture, Berberism and Islam as a religion. It also states that the invasion and colonisation of this country by the French dates back to 1830, which were motivated by economic and geographical interests. On the other hand, the independence of Algeria (between 1954 and 1962) is mentioned, which was carried out by means of guerrillas and direct attacks. Algerian sovereignty was consummated on 3 July 1962. Reference is also made to the difficult years after independence to reconfigure the nation.
