Author Guidelines

The contributions that can be published in this magazine must have a theme related to History, and can be of three types:

  • Articles: 10 to 20 pages long, in Times New Roman 12 pts, 1.5 line spacing. They should also include an abstract of at least 100 words and a maximum of 110, as well as some key words.
  • Reviews: 4 to 6 pages long, in Times New Roman 12 pts, 1.5 line spacing. They should have the image of the cover of the text reviewed and its bibliographical reference in Chicago format at the beginning. The books reviewed must be recently published, i.e., a maximum of five years before the current year.
  • Stories: Maximum length of 6 pages, in Times New Roman 12 pts, 1.5 line spacing.

In order to be considered for publication, contributions must follow the editorial guidelines presented below:

  1. Authors may be:
    1. Regular or irregular students from any university with academic recognition.
    2. Articles sent by graduates of any of the social sciences or humanities, as well as other careers, will be considered, as long as their work is related to history.
  2. Unpublished and original articles that have not been published in physical or digital media, nor are in opinion for another journal, will be considered.
  3. The subject matter is free within the dossier defined for the specific issue, but the author must consider the following:
    1. The author is responsible for the content of his or her ideas, which should be based on recognized theories or research methods.
    2. If the author is from a foreign university, a brief academic curriculum vitae should be provided as part of the paper.
  4. The citation for any collaboration should be as follows:
    1. A minimum of four authors should be cited in each article.
    2. Footnotes and citations will be arranged with Arabic numerals in consecutive order.
    3. Citations will be elaborated with the Chicago 15th edition. Since there are several versions of this system, the manual used by the journal can be consulted by clicking here.
    4. Quotations longer than four lines should be placed with a left indentation of 2 centimeters, without quotation marks and with a smaller font size, so that they stand out from the rest of the text.
    5. For Internet citations, it will be required that the site is specialized in the subject and that it is supported by an institution dedicated to the diffusion or professional research of the subject. The quotation will be made in the following way: Author's name, title of the text, web page and date of consultation; or, as the Chicago 15th edition system requires.
    6. Oral quotations are the responsibility of the author.
  5. Articles may contain images, but they must be correctly referenced without violating any rights of the author(s) of the images: the name of the work, the author and year of production; or, if not, the name of the file, background, etc.; or, the above data together with the description of the image, the link from which it was obtained and the date of consultation. In addition, they should be placed in their proper place within the text and not at the end or as attachments.
  6. The originals must be delivered in 1.5 space with Times New Roman 12 point font (footnotes in 10 point) in Office Word version IN THE MAIL OF THE MAGAZINE (horizontehistorico@hotmail.com) AND NOT ON THIS PLATFORM.
  7. For more information on the process of arbitration of contributions, see About the magazine in the About menu.
