Abstract

Allelopathy plays a role of great importance at the moment of knowing the form of interaction between plants, as this has application in agriculture. Eucalyptus is known to be one of the best-known species for having allelopathic potential. Within the studied literature, not so many indications were found indicating that Citrus limonum risso had allelochemicals, for which the interest arose to investigate the allelopathic effect of this species on seeds of Raphanus sativus, which has production importance in Mexico. For this, three cultures were carried out; control treatment (percentage of radish seed growth under normal conditions), treatment with 26% Eucalyptus leaf extract (comparison medium on allelopathic potential) and treatment with 26% Citrus limonum risso leaf extract (species to be investigated).

It was obtained that the allelopathic activity of the leaves of Citrus limonum risso also function as allelopathic components, inhibiting the germination of the seed of Raphanus sativus by 96.667% at a concentration of 26% of the leaves, obtaining a similar effect produced by the extract of Eucalyptus. This knowledge can be used to carry out field research to help determine the relationship between these two species and promote a system that does not interfere with the production of R. sativus.
