Abstract

The evolution of surgery from its origins to the present day is impressive. Specialization in this field of medicine is ever-increasing, moving from crude, traumatic procedures with a high inflammatory burden to others that are much more refined, selective, and less traumatic. All of this has been made possible by new tools such as laparoscopy and robot-assisted surgery.
