Empathy, Doctor-patient relationshipAbstract
In the following lines, I will refer to the last of the moments described by Dr. Laín, as it seems to me to be one of the most decisive in the outcome of the doctor-patient relationship. The term "empathy" comes from the Greek word empháteia and translates as an objective and profound appreciation by an individual of another's feelings, behaviors, ideas, and intellectual positions, with an intimate understanding of their situation and their person.
