About the Journal

Scope

Artificium's central element is the field of study of the Science of the Anthropic Environment, that is, we have identified different relations between humans and the environment.

Artificium's scope and main issues are still growing. As background, we consider perspectives such as Sciences of the Artificial of Herbert Simon crucial to understand the natural and artificial environment and the role that humans have in developing it. Also, Hannah Arendt's Human Condition is necessary to understand homo faber and the capacity that humans have to develop tools and transform the environment. Finally, the Anthropocene, as an emerging field, also operates as an example of current issues that need to be addressed. All of these are also complemented with perspectives in innovation and sustainability.

The environment is, from Artificium's perspective, conceived in a wider sense of the concept, as the set of artificial and natural circumstances as well as political, social, economic and technological issues that surround, relate to and affect or are affected by human activities.
