Abstract

This article offers an analysis of perceptions surrounding the platformization of the contemporary regional film industry, considering the sociocultural needs that have emerged from the rise and influence of video-on-demand (SVOD) distribution platforms. Based on the results obtained from research conducted through an ethnographic approach, which included participant observation and in-depth informal and formal interviews with a specific production team, as well as other local producers, the influence of these platforms on local production practices was interpreted.

The article also highlights a series of diverse situations and problems faced by audiovisual production teams outside major production centers, given the emergence of video-on-demand distribution platforms in the media ecosystem and their quality standards.
