Abstract

Introduction: Obesity represents both a risk factor and a predictor of poor prognosis in women with breast cancer (BC). Various behavioral, physiological, and environmental factors modulate this risk. Objective: To analyze and integrate the available evidence on factors influencing obesity risk control in women with breast cancer, organizing them into a six-domain conceptual framework to provide a theoretical basis for the development of multicomponent interventions and explanatory models applicable to clinical and community care. Materials and methods: A narrative literature review. Studies published between 2007 and 2025 were selected from electronic databases (PubMed, Scopus, SciELO, and Google Scholar), using combinations of keywords in English and Spanish. Priority was given to studies involving women with BC or those addressing relevant variables for obesity risk control. A total of 26 studies were analyzed. Results: Key influencing factors were identified and grouped into six categories: dietary and physical activity patterns, body composition and biomarkers, food environment, perceived weight self-efficacy, weight self-regulation, and obesity risk control. Characteristics of the included studies are summarized in Table 1. Conclusions: Obesity risk control in women with BC is multifactorial. The variables identified should be considered in the design of interventions and explanatory models to improve prevention and prognosis in this population.
