Introduction: In the discipline of Nursing, there are different methods to be able to arrive at care strategies, in which narratives are included, which contribute and create knowledge from practice, the narrative is creative, innovative and involves the observation and analysis of information from the patient-nurse interaction in different situations to finally achieve the well-being of the person, all this within the framework of a nursing theory are considered methods of research for care. Methods: a narrative analysis of nursing was carried out on a student in her first practice and approach to a person who died, based on Callista Roy’s adaptation model of the empirical theoretical concept. Results: the experience of a narrative was understood through the application of knowledge patterns and Roy’s model, where a student can adapt to approaches with death in his first student practice. Conclusions: The Nursing narrative allows us to identify health phenomena that are present in nursing practice, in this case in clinical care, as well as skills and aptitudes of nursing care.
