This paper aims to provide arguments to try to resolve the discussion about the two arguments put forward by Aristotle on the first mover: the one disclosed in Physics VIIVII, and the other one in Metaphysics XII. The discussion assumes the idea that both theses are exclusive of each other, since the first mover is in one of them postulated as an efficient cause, while in the other is posited as a final cause. The aim is to show the absolute irreducibility of positions held in both books and contribute for a diachronic interpretation of the theory. Thus, following the ideas of Aristotle on the soul, the text seeks to deny the option that attempts to apply the first mover as well as an efficient cause as a final cause.Downloads
