Abstract

The focus of the research was to determine an intertextual relationship between the fantastic stories El Guesthouse by Amparo Dávila and Casa taken by Julio Cortázar. As a basis for the research, the two stories mentioned were analyzed, and for this, different sources were used as a theoretical foundation to understand what intertextuality is and how it works. At the same time, studies previously carried out on the authors of the stories were used to understand their writing and the context in which each one was, and the fantastic genre was investigated. Three factors in the two stories were analyzed to determine the intertextuality: the way in which the events are narrated and the space set, the roles assigned to their characters, and the outcomes of each story. Finally, It was possible to confirm the intertextual dialogue between the two stories and, at the same time it was possible to assure that these stories belongs to fantastic literature.
