Introduction: The excess burden on a caregiver is a state of emotional exhaustion, stress, and tiredness that affects their daily activities and mental balance. One of the main problems with an excess burden is to care for people with disabilities, since they demand more attention with greater complexity. Objective: Explain the influence of the factors associated with an excess burden for the informal primary caregiver in a child rehabilitation center. Materials and methods: Quantity study, explanatory, random sampling with 182 people. It was applied for a data collection certificate, the Zarit Scale and Barthel index (0.91 and 0.86 α respectively). To analyze the data recollected was used SPSS 25 and Modeler 1.0. There were applied central trend measures and dispersion; association rules, correlation Rho of Spearman and logistic regression; the present study was based on the General Law of Health in matters of investigation for health. Results: 75% of the caregivers presented some level. It was identified that “being in couple” and “hours of caring” are significantly associated with an excess burden (p0.018 and 0.008, respectively); “being in couple” and “hours of caring” was the group with a high level (15.93%). Conclusion: There is a high percentage of burden in the main caregivers, a condition that was associated with several clusters; nevertheless, it´s recognized that the caretakers respond in a different way to the burden in the main caregiver.
