Abstract

The central question guiding the development of this paper is: How selfcare and wellness is processed in people of advanced age facing complexity involved in this stage of life, positioned from the daily religious practices? The text shows the needs and problems more felt by elderly and divine intervention which asks for: 1) maintaining the health and strength, 2) supplying their material needs, 3) sense and meaning, and 4) security and hope. The results of this qualitative research suggest that religious practices, but are not always effective in solving their problems and daily needs, they help them manage the critical situation and even with some degree of satisfaction also, to achieve a greater awareness of the possibilities and limitations as older adults in self-care and wellness.
