Abstract

This article analysis the relation between the material representation of the sacred and its ritual connotation. How do the representatives that talk about something that it is not present become the popular imagery of the representation itself? Moreover, how has the iconographic tradition of the catholic church contributed in generating the beliefs in religious images? From the discussion of the hometown as a sacred space, this article proposes some elements to fully understand the typification of the images of the sacred, specially by the Mexican who live abroad, as will as the images of the construction of new sanctuaries where the devotions of origen are transplants to spaces of destiny.
