Abstract

This paper offers an approximation to the so-called quantitative and qualitative debates. As a starting point, such approximation does not try to simplify or reduce the question. Instead, it seeks to take into account the multiple dimensions that are relevant to the discussion. Starting from the distinction between an analytical and a synthetic conception of knowledge, the author discusses the merits of a dialectical logic versus formal logic and resumes the scholastic view on the knowledge of the singular, to conclude with a commitment to the progressive perfection of necessarily imperfect concepts through which we deal with the singular.
