A literature review is presented revising different design discourses for sustainability that appeared in the past decades intending to show to design professionals the different perspectives that have arisen, their connection with other fields of knowledge, and how they have enriched design practice. Lastly, the paper presents a list of suggestions for those designers that commit to aligning their work to design principles. El presente artículo aborda la relación entre el paradigma actual de la sustentabilidad y la práctica en las diferentes disciplinas del diseño. Se hace una revisión de los discursos en el Diseño para la sustentabilidad en las últimas décadas con la finalidad de mostrar a los profesionales del diseño las diferentes vertientes que han surgido, su conexión con otros campos del saber y cómo esto ha enriquecido las prácticas de la disciplina. Por último, se presenta una lista de sugerencias para aquellos diseñadores que tienen el compromiso de alinear su trabajo con los principios de la sustentabilidad. Bioclimatic Design in today’s architecture Diseño bioclimático en la arquitectura de hoy Gaytán Ortiz, Inés del Rocío diseño arquitectura clima design architecture bioclimatic This article presents evidence of the responsibility of the construction industry in environmental damage, especially regarding the urban environment. To address this challenge, this paper proposes recovering one of the main characteristics of the architecture: environmental and climatic adaptation. The lack of knowledge about the site where architecture is projected has provoked the systematization of buildings resulting in the unnecessary waste of energy to cool and heat spaces. Rethinking architectural education becomes necessary, taking as a starting point the main principles of bioclimatic design. El presente artículo inicialmente evidencia, la responsabilidad que la industria de la construcción comparte en el daño ejercido sobre el medio ambiente, principalmente en el ámbito urbano. Enseguida, se propone como alternativa ante este desafío, recuperar una de las principales características de la arquitectura: la adaptación al entorno y su clima. El desconocimiento del sitio donde se proyecta, ha provocado que se establezcan tipologías uniformes de edificaciones, provocando gasto innecesario de energía para enfriar y calentar espacios. Finalmente, se propone re pensar la enseñanza arquitectónica, para incluir en ella, al menos cinco de las principales bases del diseño bioclimático. The characteristics of the architectural space will invite the inhabitant to behave in a certain way. El comportamiento que presente una persona dentro de un espacio, tendrá que ver en gran medida en cómo éste se relaciona con la espacialidad, la arquitectura interior; ya que las características que presente dicho ámbito arquitectónico invitan a que el ocupante se desenvuelva de cierta forma en él. The dialogue centers on how individuals are limited mainly because of economic conditions that impact heavily on families with lower income. However, the less fortunate are even more restricted to social structures. In other words, the inequity conditions exist not only in an uneven income distribution but also in what has been built socially, culturally, and historically as consumption practices. The objective of this article is to show that hosing choice is not only the result of disbursement of economic resources available, but also that the consumption of housing is also the result of what has been socially and culturally built as ways of living in each of the families and social fields. La discusión en torno al problema del acceso al suelo urbano y vivienda ha sido ampliamente abordada enfocándose principalmente en las limitaciones que viven los individuos por las condiciones estructurales económicas, las cuales comúnmente repercuten con mayor intensidad en las familias con menores ingresos. Sin embargo, el margen de posibilidades “de los menos favorecidos” se ve aún más restringido al observar las condiciones estructurales sociales. Es decir, las condiciones de desigualdad no parten sólo de una distribución desigual en el ingreso, sino también de lo que se ha construido social, cultural e históricamente como las prácticas en el consumo de un determinado bien. Así este artículo tiene como objetivo mostrar que la elección de una vivienda no sólo es producto de la erogación de los recursos económicos disponibles, si no también que el consumo, en este en este caso de la vivienda, es producto de lo que social y culturalmente se ha construido como las formas del “habitar” en cada una de las familias y en cada uno de los campos sociales. Graphic design and Spinoza’s practice philosophy El diseño gráfico y la filosofía práctica de Spinoza Martín del Campo Jiménez, Juan Alberto diseño gráfico filosofía Spinoza graphic design philosophy Spinoza The objective of this article is to introduce concepts that belong to Baruch Spinoza’s philosophy, passing through Guilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, who used the system proposed in the book Ethics, to work within the same plane of immanency (from this perspective plane is understood as map, and immanency as the internal perseverance of bodies, opposed to transcendence). First, general aspects about graphic design and its relation to contemporary consumption practices are explained; then, Spinozian arguments are developed regarding the type of signs, the affections, and knowledge genre, relating them to image perception produced in advertising design. El presente texto tiene como finalidad introducir al lector a conceptos pertenecientes a la filosofía de Baruch de Spinoza, pasando por Guilles Deleuze y Félix Guattari, quienes utilizaron el sitema propuesto en el libro Ética demostrada según el órden geométrico, para trabajar dentro del mismo plano de inmanencia (desde esta óptica plano se entiende como mapa e inmanencia como la perseverancia interna de los cuerpos, oponiéndose a la trascendencia). Socio-spatial segregation of those born in another entity. Case study Mexicali, Baja California Segregación socioespacial de los nacidos en otra entidad. Caso de estudio Mexicali, Baja California Gandara, Carlos Segregación Socioespacial equipamiento urbano Mexicali Segregation sociospatial urban equipment Mexicali This article studies how people who were born in an entity other than Baja California are distributed in the urban sprawl of Mexicali. This in order to understand if they are segregated based on their origin and therefore their access to education, health, commerce and leisure equipment is affected. Having this information could guide city planners to equally include their residents. To this end, a cross-sectional quantitative exercise was carried out with the most recent data available. The investigation showed a slight concentration of this population to the south, mainly to the south-west, in terms of access to equipment, coverage in education and health issues, this results. But there is a moderate association in the issues of commerce and recreation with the access of the non-native population. In conclusion, the population born in another entity has the same accessibility to the facilities mentioned above. The results do not validate the initial assumption of differentiated access to urban equipment between the native and non-native population, which is encouraging in the search for a socially sustainable city. El presente artículo estudia cómo se distribuye en la mancha urbana de Mexicali las personas que nacieron en una entidad diferente a Baja California. Esto con el fin de entender si estas, se encuentran segregadas en función de su origen y por consiguiente ven afectado su acceso a equipamiento de educación, salud, comercio y esparcimiento. Contar con esta información podría orientar a los planificadores de la ciudad para que incluya, de manera igualitaria a sus residentes. Para ello se realizó un ejercicio cuantitativo de carácter transversal con los datos más recientes a los que se tuvo acceso. La investigación arrojó una ligera concentración de esta población al sur, principalmente al sur poniente, en cuanto al acceso del equipamiento, la cobertura en los temas de educación y salud esta resulta. Pero existe una asociación moderada en los temas de comercio y esparcimiento con el acceso de la población no nativa. En conclusión, la población nacida en otra entidad tiene la misma accesibilidad a los equipamientos señalados anteriormente. Los resultados no validan el supuesto inicial de acceso diferenciado al equipamiento urbano entre la población nativa y la no nativa, lo que resulta alentador en la búsqueda de una ciudad socialmente sustentable. Disaster risk management in gated communities and popular neighborhoods La gestión del riesgo de desastres en condominios cerrados y zonas de barrios populares Padrón Chacón, Carlos riesgo gestión desarrollo planificación comunidades risk management development planning communities The research is an approach that seeks to guide the development of cities and communities so that they are sustainable, safe, accessible and resilient from the perspective of disaster risk management. A qualitative analysis is carried out considering the urban growth product of the new public and private housing developments (gated community) in the city of Caracas and its relationship with the construction of urban vulnerability and disaster risks. For the analysis of disaster risk, prospective management, corrective management and compensatory management are considered as a form of approach to policies on urban planning, land management and urban development. Strategies are proposed for efficient urban management based on five processes: technical, participatory, political, communicational and governance. Finally, the investigation results in some considerations for the optimization of land use in harmony with the common good, the reduction of urban and territorial inequality, the rational occupation of the land in correspondence with the laws and legal regulations established in terms of land management disaster risk. La investigación es una aproximación que persigue orientar el desarrollo de ciudades y comunidades para que sean sostenibles, seguras, accesibles y resilientes desde el enfoque de la gestión del riesgo de desastres. Se realiza un análisis cualitativo considerando el crecimiento urbano producto de los nuevos desarrollos habitacionales públicos y privados (condominios cerrados) en la ciudad de Caracas y su relación con la construcción de vulnerabilidad urbana y riesgos de desastres. Para el análisis del riesgo de desastres se consideran la gestión prospectiva, la gestión correctiva y la gestión compensatoria como forma de acercamiento a las políticas en materia de planificación urbana, gestión del territorio y desarrollo urbano. Se plantean estrategias para una gestión urbana eficiente basados en cinco procesos: técnico, participativo, político, comunicacional y gobernanza. To understand this evolutionary process, an analysis is presented whose purpose is to identify context values and recover them to guide the modification of the urban landscape. This text is based on the analysis and possible orientation of the inexorable process of transformation of the urban-architectural landscape in Santa Cruz de Juventino Rosas, Guanajuato, Mexico. The analysis is approached from the perspective of the complexity that allows the diagnosis and possible mitigation alternatives to the homologation of the urban image product of the current globalization. El paisaje urbano en las ciudades se transforma constantemente producto de diversos factores: económicos, demográficos, sociales, geográficos, entre otros. This article takes those crises as starting point to analyze the Indicator of the State’s Economic Activity (ITAEE-INEGI). By using simple quantitative instruments, the analysis centers on the behavior of the economic activity of the states that belong to the north-central region of Mexico, emphasizing what happened in Aguascalientes during the COVID-19 pandemic, that is, from 2020 to 2022. Therefore, stemming from the current advancements in the use and application of artificial intelligence, which has been in continuous evolution for over 50 years, the symbiosis of graphic design and artificial intelligence has emerged. This combination is highly appealing for the automation and generation of functionalities, but at the same time, it raises questions and assesses the systematic and excessive use of applications that might lose sight of the conceptualization and primary function of design from a human perspective. This article presents a literature review considering articles published in Scopus from 2017 with reference to tools and the use of artificial intelligence to generate design projects within four specialized areas: graphic identity design, typographic design, editorial design, and web design. Finally, it provides information about the main areas of design where interactions with artificial intelligence have been taking place, outlines proposals for future research, and discusses ethical implications in this regard. El diseño gráfico, es una disciplina que responde a necesidades específicas de comunicación y que a lo largo de los años ha ido avanzando con la sociedad acompañada de la tecnología que emerge y apoya los procesos de su visualización. Por ello, derivado de los avances actuales para el uso y aplicación de la inteligencia artificial, que por más de 50 años ha estado en constante evolución, se ha generado el binomio: diseño gráfico e inteligencia artificial que resulta sumamente atractivo para la automatización y generación de funcionalidades pero que al mismo tiempo cuestiona y evalúa el uso sistemático y desmedido de aplicaciones que pueden perder de vista la conceptualización y función principal de un diseño desde el punto de vista humano. Este artículo presenta una revisión de la literatura tomando en cuenta artículos publicados en Scopus a partir del año 2017 con referencia a herramientas y uso de la inteligencia artificial para generar proyectos de diseño desde cuatro áreas de especialización: diseño de identidad gráfica, diseño tipográfico, diseño editorial y diseño Web. Heritage urban spaces present a greater challenge due to their high occu-pancy rate and the regulatory restrictions for their conservation. Furthermore, local and foreign tou-rism, as a dynamic socio-economic phenomenon, requires strategies compatible with environmental quality protocols in the face of current social cha-llenges. The objective of this study was to identify the thermal conditions that influence the comfort of users when occupying public spaces, and to propose sustainable improvement strategies. An experimen-tal method was used to monitor the thermal beha-vior in a street connected to the historic center of Guanajuato, which has a temperate climate, and the thermal stress in outdoor spaces was rated through an international index. The results show the need to reduce thermal stress according to the months of measurement, which resulted in effective improve-ment strategies for heritage urban spaces focused on sustainable mobility. Los espacios urbanos desempeñan un papel crucial en la búsqueda por mejorar condiciones de salud humana y ambiental debido a su alta concentración de usuarios y su potencial para implementar de estrategias de mitigación y prácticas sustentables frente a los crecientes niveles de CO2 del ambiente. Los espacios urbanos patrimoniales presentan un reto mayor por su elevado índice de ocupación y a las restricciones normativas para su conservación. Además, el turismo local y foráneo, como fenóme-no socio-económico dinámico, requiere estrategias compatibles con protocolos de calidad ambiental ante los retos sociales actuales. El objetivo de este estudio, fue identificar las condiciones térmicas que influyen en la comodidad de los usuarios al ocupar espacios públicos, y proponer estrategias sustenta-bles de mejora. Se utilizó un método experimental para monitorear el comportamiento térmico en una calle conectada con el centro histórico de Guana-juato, que cuenta con clima templado, y se calificó el estrés térmico en espacios exteriores a través de un índice internacional. Los resultados muestran la necesidad de reducir el estrés térmico de acuerdo con los meses de medición, que derivaron en es-trategias de mejoramiento efectivas para espacios urbanos patrimoniales enfocados en la movilidad sustentable. In this context, the present research proposes an approach to the identification of the microclima-tic impact of design strategies in the urban surroun-dings of the Former Municipal Market of Mexicali, Mexico. With this objective, three stages of analysis were proposed: 1) field measurements for detailed analysis of the thermal behavior of the current state of urban spaces; 2) approach to different strategies and urban design scenarios for microclimatic impro-vement; and 3) evaluation of the thermal influence of these strategies through outdoor thermal simu-lation in ENVI-met. Finally, the results present the effectiveness of the urban design strategies propo-sed around mobility and the recreational use of pu-blic spaces. Where a series of considerations were identified that allow a technically justified response to the climatic adaptation of the urban environment of the Former Municipal Market of Mexicali. En entornos urbanos con clima desértico, las condi-ciones térmicas derivadas del incremento proyecta-do de temperaturas debido al cambio climático, el efecto de isla de calor urbana y las altas temperatu-ras que naturalmente se registran en la región, de-mandan estrategias de regulación microclimática en los espacios exteriores urbanos para reducir el estrés térmico de los usuarios y asegurar su óptimo fun-cionamiento. En este contexto, la presente investi-gación plantea una aproximación a la identificación del impacto microclimático de estrategias de dise-ño en los alrededores urbanos del Antiguo Mercado Municipal de Mexicali, México. Con este objetivo se plantearon tres etapas de análisis: 1) mediciones de campo para el análisis detallado del comportamiento térmico del estado actual de los espacios urbanos; 2) planteamiento de distintas estrategias y escenarios de diseño urbano para la mejora microclimática; y 3) evaluación de la influencia térmica de dichas estra-tegias mediante simulación térmica de exteriores en ENVI-met. Finalmente, los resultados presentan la efectividad de las estrategias de diseño urbano pro-puestas en torno a la movilidad y el uso recreativo de los espacios públicos. Donde se identificaron una serie de consideraciones que permiten una respues-ta técnicamente justificada a la adaptación climática del entorno urbano del Antiguo Mercado Municipal de Mexicali. It is worth mentioning that the new generations converge and flow naturally in the management of alternate realities and build professional, entertainment and playful possibilities from the current technological development and the tools that are consolidated with the pregnant and constant changes. Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality converge in a common way in areas of Design and also in everyday scenarios such as video games, television and entertainment systems, educational applications, etc. In the development of this text, a qualitative methodology was used through the documentary review method. El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo general reflexionar sobre las nuevas conceptualizaciones de la Imagen y de la Inteligencia Artificial (IA) debido a que las actuales herramientas y aplicaciones tecnológicas, permiten la construcción de diversas realidades y contextos análogos o virtuales; es decir, que se establecen representaciones simbólicas que corresponden a elementos conocidos a nivel identitario, pero que se ajustan y se estructuran en posibilidades no imaginadas en primera instancia y que posteriormente permiten la visualización de panoramas emergentes y una diversidad inconmensurable de posibles soluciones ante situaciones cotidianas o también ante problemas complejos. Vale la pena mencionar que las nuevas generaciones convergen y fluyen de manera natural en el manejo de realidades alternas y construyen posibilidades profesionales, de entretenimiento y lúdicas a partir del desarrollo tecnológico actual y de las herramientas que se consolidan con los cambios pregnantes y constantes. La Inteligencia Artificial y la Realidad Virtual convergen de manera común en ámbitos propios del Diseño y también en panoramas cotidianos como lo son los videojuegos, los sistemas de televisión y entretenimiento, las aplicaciones educativas, etc. En el desarrollo del presente texto se utilizó una metodología de corte cualitativa a través del método de revisión documental. The aim is to identify the parameters of the environment that influence well-being, how they are measured, and their relationship with health. To achieve this, a literature review was conducted using the WOS database between 2008 and 2018. In the analysis of environmental parameters, there is a limited connection between studies on materials and human beings, with little emphasis on biophilia and form. Concerning the human aspect, there is a greater number of psychological studies compared to biological studies.Additionally, the article presents six empirical investigations conducted between 2018 and 2022. These cases attempt to correlate the psychological and biological effects of the built environment in order to relate individuals’ reported measurements with physiological measurements.The article concludes that this line of research is essential for strengthening both data generation and evidence-based design in the built environment. It highlights the need to comprehensively address the relationship between human beings and their built environment to enhance the well-being and health of people. El entorno construido y su impacto en el bienestar y salud humanos son analizados en este artículo. Se busca identificar los parámetros del entorno que influyen en el bienestar, cómo se miden y su relación con la salud, para ello se realiza una revisión literaria en la base de datos WOS entre 2008 y 2018. En los parámetros del entorno se muestra una escasa relación entre los estudios aplicados en los materiales y el ser humano, y con poca presencia de la biofilia y la forma. Respecto al ser humano, se encuentra una mayor cantidad de estudios psicológicos en comparación con estudios biológicos.Además, se presentan seis investigaciones empíricas realizadas entre 2018 y 2022. Estos casos tratan de relacionar los efectos psicológicos y biológicos del entorno construido para poder relacionar las mediciones reportadas por los individuos con las mediciones fisiológicas.El artículo concluye que esta línea de investigación es importante para fortalecer tanto la generación de datos como el diseño basado en evidencia en el entorno construido. Se resalta la necesidad de abordar de manera más completa y holística la relación entre el ser humano y su entorno construido para mejorar el bienestar y la salud de las personas. The present article aims to analyze the visual, emotional, and semantic qualities of a series of textile motifs under an experimental mixed method based on emotional design since it is suggested that there is a preference for certain types of shapes that are associated with specific emotional experiences in the human being and their perception in the interior space. The study was carried out with a group of foreign participants living in Saudi Arabia to analyze the emotions of a set of fourteen textile motifs with background and origin from a particular culture, allowing to identify a possible connection between the selection of the motifs and the cultural background or place of origin of the participants, who assigned emotional and semantic values from their culture of origin. The results obtained address the emotional connotations, values and responses according to the cultural background of the subjects, associating characteristics of the motifs to the geographical regions. Los motivos textiles proporcionan contexto y comunican historias que con sus diversas composiciones de naturaleza geométrica o abstracta alojan aspectos emocionales en la experiencia del usuario en los espacios interiores. El presente artículo tiene por objetivo analizar las cualidades visuales, emocionales y semánticas de una serie de motivos textiles bajo un método mixto experimental basado en el diseño emocional dado que se sugiere existe una preferencia por determinados tipos de formas que son asociadas a experiencias emocionales concretas en el ser humano y su percepción en el espacio interior. El estudio se llevó a cabo con un grupo de participantes extranjeros viviendo en Arabia Saudita para analizar las emociones de un conjunto de catorce motivos textiles con antecedente y procedencia de una cultura en particular, permitiendo identificar una posible conexión entre la selección de los motivos y el antecedente cultural o lugar de proveniencia de los participantes, los cuales asignaron valores emocionales y semánticos desde su cultura de origen. Los resultados obtenidos abordan las connotaciones emotivas, valores y respuestas acordes a los antecedentes culturales de los sujetos, asociando características de los motivos a las regiones geográficas. The origins, characteristics and representative scope of tiny houses in Mexico Los orígenes, características y el alcance representativo de las mini casas en México Chávez Chávez, América Nayeli habitabilidad mini casas movimiento sostenibilidad tipología habitability living place movement sustainability tiny house This article presents an analysis of the tiny houses carried out through an in-depth investigation of different movements in favor of the implementation of this current of habitability, among them: “The Tiny House Movement” and “Tiny Home Builders”, each of them present relevant information and a vast catalogue of tiny house typologies, of which, an emphasis is placed on the functionality that each of them can provide, highlighting both the advantages and the disadvantages more specific, in turn, distinguishing its innovation and environmental sustainability. At the end, a brief analysis and correlation of the information collected is carried out with a more specific context, being Mexico that axis of study, in order to check if this type of housing can be implemented in that country, which concludes as a typology that is difficult to place in a population where its culture and habitability seek housing standards different from those that govern tiny houses. Este artículo presenta un análisis sobre las mini casas realizado por medio de una investigación profunda de diferentes movimientos a favor de la implementación de esta corriente de habitabilidad, entre ellos se destacan: “The Tiny House Movement” y “Tiny Home Builders”, los cuales presentan un vasto catálogo de tipologías de mini casas, de las cuales, se hace un hincapié a la funcionalidad que cada una de ellas puede proveer, destacando tanto las ventajas como las desventajas más puntuales, a su vez, distinguiendo su innovación y sostenibilidad ambiental. Evolution and approach of the concept of the quality life in the New Urban Agenda Habitat III Evolución y abordaje del concepto de calidad de vida en la Nueva Agenda Urbana Hábitat III Baltazar, Armando bienestar calidad de vida Nueva Agenda Urbana Hábitat III Well-being quality of life New Urban Agenda Habitat III The quality of life is an ideal state of personal well-being that encompasses various objective and subjective dimensions, influenced by social, economic, and environmental factors at both individual and collective levels. These dimensions are universal and indiscriminate, but the attribution of value is individual and can therefore vary between individuals. The purpose of this essay is to address the emergence of the conceptualization of “quality of life” through a chronology and historical background that emerged in the 20th century. By conducting a literature review using databases such as Scopus, Scielo, Google Scholar, Redalyc, and a sequence of events, the most relevant findings regarding its construct in the decades of the 20th century are outlined. Additionally, the approach to “quality of life” in the objectives of the “New Urban Agenda Habitat III” and the “Regional Action Plan for the implementation of the New Urban Agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean 2016-2036” is analyzed. La calidad de vida es un estado ideal de bienestar personal que se compone de diversas dimensiones tanto objetivas como subjetivas que son afectadas por aspectos sociales, económicos y ambientales; a nivel individual y colectivo. Estas dimensiones son universales sin distinción, pero la atribución de un valor es individual, por lo tanto, puede variar entre individuos. El objetivo de este ensayo es abordar el surgimiento de la conceptualización de “calidad de vida” a partir de una cronología y antecedentes históricos que emergieron en el siglo XX. Mediante una revisión literaria realizada a través de las bases de datos de Scopus, SciELO, Google Scholar y Redalyc y una sucesión de hechos, se enuncian los hallazgos más relevantes con respecto a su constructo en las décadas del siglo XX. It is crucial to view these spaces as fundamental components of the cycles of design, production, use, and maintenance, as well as the activities and processes that occur within them. Such an approach aims to enhance the quality of life for populations by embedding the concept of “Circular Design” into educational environments dedicated to teaching architecture, urban design, and habitable space design. Understanding the elements that a sustainable urban space encompasses throughout its entire lifecycle—selection, diagnosis, planning, design, construction, maintenance, operation, evaluation, and monitoring—enables their comparison and integration into appropriate circular design strategies. These strategies aim to minimize negative impacts on both the natural and human environment while benefiting user populations and harmonizing with the natural and built ecosystem.   Este trabajo aborda de manera general, una aproximación al impacto positivo que representa la inclusión de un modelo de economía y diseño circular en la concepción y materialización de espacios urbanos sustentables que formen parte de una cultura proyectual en las escuelas de diseño del hábitat. Por ello es importante considerarlos como parte fundamental en los ciclos de diseño, producción, uso y manutención del propio espacio, así como de las actividades y procesos que suceden al interior de estos para contribuir al mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de la población incorporando el concepto de “Diseño circular” en los entornos educativos destinados a la enseñanza de la arquitectura, diseño urbano y del espacio habitable en general. El conocimiento de los elementos que considera un espacio urbano sustentable a lo largo de todo su proceso (selección, diagnóstico, planificación, diseño, construcción, manutención, operación, evaluación y monitoreo) permitirá compararlos e integrarlos a las estrategias de diseño circular adecuadas que permitan ejercer el menor impacto negativo al entorno natural y humano en donde estos se insertan en beneficio de la población usuaria y de los elementos que componen el ecosistema natural y edificado. While sustainability should be addressed from different fronts, the construction sector of educational spaces can play a relevant role in the country's strategy due to the potential for efficiency in energy and water consumption levels, all with the aim of facing environmental situations and health contingencies through sustainable building. The environmental comfort is considered in this work from the climatic and lighting point of view, taking into account for study purposes the user of architecture in a specific region of semi-temperate climate, as well as their health conditions. La situación climática y ambiental que se vive en la actualidad a nivel mundial ha obligado a algunos países a realizar acciones para enfrentar el cambio climático y el impacto ambiental a través del desarrollo de tecnologías que permitan la eficiencia energética y sustentabilidad en las edificaciones, debido a que esta toma una relevancia particular por su importancia y proyección ambiental además en las acciones a considerar en los espacios de educación superior ante futuras epidemias. Influence of the morphological characteristics of coarse aggregate on the mechanical properties of concrete López Rojas, Mario coarse aggregate mechanical properties of concrete compressive strength The morphology of the aggregates can have a significant effect on the behavior of fresh and hardened concrete. In this study the morphological characteristics (roundness, aspect and fractal dimension) of coarse aggregated (crushed and natural gravel) were obtained throught binary images processed with the Image-PRO software. The morphological properties were correlated with mechanical behavior of hardened (compressive strength) and fresh concrete (slump). The results shows a trend to lower values of roundness, aspect and fractal dimension for natural gravel particles, suggesting smoother contours and lower elongated, comparing with higher values of crushed gravel. Additionally, the shape of coarse aggregated significantly affected the mechanical behavior of hardened concrete, because the concrete cylinders elaborated with same particles (natural gravel) have a trend to higher values and lower standard deviation of compressive strength. A Diagrammatic Reading of Casa La Peña: Applying Norberg-Schulz’s Theory as an Empathic Tool for Contemporary Architectural Analysis La topología como herramienta empática en arquitectura: Casa La Peña desde la Teoría de Norberg-Schulz Mondragón Ruiz, Bettina Valeria teoría espacio existencial empatía análisis diagramático Norberg-Schulz habitar theory space existential empathy diagrammatic analysis Norberg-Schulz dwelling This article applies Christian Norberg-Schulz’s Theory of Existential Space as an analytical tool to interpret the spatial organization of Casa La Peña, located in Valle de Bravo, State of Mexico. From a qualitative and diagrammatic perspective, the study employs the topological categories of place, path, and region to examine the architectural configuration fostered by the dwelling. Based on a documentary and comparative investigation using architectural plans and photographs, the diagramming of these existential dimensions was carried out. This inquiry made it possible to identify patterns of symmetry, directionality, openness, and centrality. The findings reveal a correlation between the physical and affective dimensions of inhabiting, in line with the principles of the Existential Theory. It is concluded that this type of analysis can enrich both architectural criticism and the design process by providing tools centered on human experience; however, it is acknowledged that the method is limited but useful as conmplementary empathic tool.     Este artículo aplica la Teoría del Espacio Existencial de Christian Norberg-Schulz como herramienta analítica para interpretar la organización espacial de la Casa La Peña, ubicada en Valle de Bravo, Estado de México, desde un enfoque cualitativo y diagramático, se emplean las categorías topológicas de lugar, camino y región para examinar la distribución arquitectónica que la vivienda propicia. A través de una investigación documental y comparativa basada en fotografías y planos arquitectónicos del proyecto, se realiza la diagramación de las dimensiones de lugar, camino y región. Esta indagación permitió identificar patrones de simetría, direccionalidad, apertura y centralidad. Los resultados revelan una correspondencia entre las dimensiones físicas y afectivas del habitar, en coherencia con los postulados de la Teoría Existencial. The construction regulations of Mexico City establish the dimensions in terraces and must be built to fulfill their functions. This study examines whether the courtyard dimensions enable the development of optimal natural ventilation conditions, which countribute to a house’s indoor air quality. The first part of this study explains the visualization of the flow and the measurements of thermodynamic variables using a scaled physical model at 1:30 inside an aerodynamic tunnel. The recordings in the visualization demonstrate how the smoke enters the residence and leaves into the courtyard. Measurements were taken at various locations inside and around the scaled model. The constitutive equations were solve with the Reynolds stress turbulence model using the OpenFOAM software. The results of the experiment and the numerical simulations demonstrate that the standard courtyard’s size allow to develop appropiate ventilation conditions. The house’s accesories have a considerable influence by develop longer air trajectories, which reduces the quantity of air and the house’s indoor air quality. El patio de ventilación cumple con dos funciones principales en los edificios, la iluminación y la ventilación de los espacios interiores. El reglamento de construcciones del Distrito Federal establece las dimensiones en las que deben de construirse los patios para cumplir con sus funciones. En este trabajo se analiza si el dimensionamiento de patios permite obtener las condiciones de ventilación natural suficientes que conduzcan a una calidad del aire interior adecuada en una vivienda. El estudio se divide en dos partes, la primera corresponde a la experimentación física con un modelo físico a escala 1:30 dentro de un túnel aerodinámico, donde se visualiza el flujo de humo en el espacio interior del departamento y se realizan mediciones puntuales en diferentes puntos dentro y alrededor del modelo. La segunda es la simulación numérica, que consiste en resolver las ecuaciones constitutivas mediante OpenFOAM, con el modelo de esfuerzos de Reynolds, en estado no estacionario. Los resultados tanto del experimento como de las simulaciones numéricas muestran que el dimensionamiento del patio permite generar las condiciones de ventilación adecuadas en el caso de estudio, sin embargo, la geometría y la distribución de los espacios interiores tienen un impacto significativo al generar trayectorias más largas para que el aire abandone la vivienda, lo cual disminuye la cantidad de cambios de aire, lo que afecta la calidad del aire interior de la vivienda. The study focuses on three stages of the process: initiation, intermediate development, and conclusion, identifying both positive and negative emotions that may affect academic performance. It is conducted at the Universidad del Papaloapan (UNPA) and the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC), using a methodology based on interviews and literature analysis. However, the review of academic sources revealed a lack of studies on the emotions students experience while working on their thesis, highlighting the relevance of this study. Findings indicate that factors such as academic pressure, the relationship with the advisor, and time management influence students’ emotions, impacting their motivation and performance. This research aims to fill a gap in the literature and provide tools to improve thesis advisors’ guidance, enabling more effective mentoring strategies. Ultimately, this knowledge is expected to help reduce thesis submission delays and increase the graduation rate at UNPA, which is currently low. Esta investigación analiza las emociones experimentadas por los estudiantes durante el desarrollo de su tesis de licenciatura en diseño, desde la concepción de la idea hasta la defensa del trabajo final. El estudio se centra en tres etapas del proceso: inicio, desarrollo intermedio y conclusión, identificando emociones positivas y negativas que pueden afectar el desempeño académico. Se desarrolla en la Universidad del Papaloapan (UNPA) y la Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC), con una metodología basada en entrevistas y análisis de literatura. Sin embargo, la revisión de fuentes académicas evidenció una falta de estudios sobre las emociones que experimentan los estudiantes al realizar su tesis, lo que justifica la relevancia del estudio. Los hallazgos indican que factores como la presión académica y la gestión del tiempo influyen en las emociones de los estudiantes, impactando su motivación y rendimiento. La investigación busca llenar un vacío en la literatura y proporcionar herramientas para mejorar la orientación de los asesores, permitiendo estrategias de acompañamiento más efectivas. Finalmente, se espera que este conocimiento contribuya a reducir los retrasos en la entrega de tesis y aumente la tasa de titulación en la UNPA, que actualmente es baja. Interior design no longer seeks only to meet the objectives related to aesthetics and functionality, but to encompass broader and more comprehensive systems where issues of social and environmental commitment, collective well-being and sustainability are involved. Trying to respond to the complexity of human needs with a moral and ethical approach. From the academic training of the interior designer, it is advisable to position the approaches to education in terms of the current context, which is undoubtedly affected by globalization and the use of technology. In this way, to question how pertinently the formulation of interior design proposals is being carried out, how much the university is supporting the formation of responsible designers, committed and sensitive to the reality of their environment. Hoy en día, la práctica del interiorismo ha tratado de romper tabúes que la enmarcaban como una actividad de élite exclusiva de ciertas esferas. El diseño de interiores ya no busca únicamente dar cumplimiento a los objetivos relacionados con la estética y la funcionalidad; sino abarcar sistemas más amplios e integrales donde intervengan cuestiones de compromiso social y ambiental, bienestar colectivo y sostenibilidad. Tratando de dar respuesta a la complejidad de las necesidades humanas con un enfoque moral y ético. Desde la formación académica del diseñador de interiores, es recomendable posicionar los planteamientos de la educación en función del contexto actual, el cual indiscutiblemente se ve afectado por la globalización y el uso de la tecnología. It is impossible to ignore the idea that the artificial world we have built to improve human quality of life has alienated us from our own naturalness, even leading us to mistakenly believe that our world and that of nature are disconnected. For this reason, an emerging trend can be identified—one that seeks to reconnect us with our natural side and understand that what affects the environment ultimately also affects human beings as a species. This artificial world, or anthropic realm, is an infinite universe, an inexhaustible field of study that demands approaches from different disciplines, whether directed at the micro—such as the study of the materials with which we transform our surroundings—or the macro, such as the impact of entire cities on regional ecosystems. Furthermore, with the popularization of artificial intelligence and the proliferation of its use, the artificial world has expanded into territories yet to be explored; there is now an artificial-digital world, parallel to the analog one, that also requires our attention. Este número es un reflejo del alcance que tiene la revista Artificio, del cual, se desprendan distintas reflexiones. Es imposible ignorar la idea de que el mundo artificial que hemos construido para mejorar la calidad de vida del ser humano nos ha alienado de nuestra propia naturalidad, incluso nos ha llevado a pensar equivocadamente que nuestro mundo y el de la naturaleza están disociados. Por ello se puede identificar una tendencia emergente que busca reconectarnos con nuestra parte natural y comprender que aquello que afecta el medio ambiente termina también afectando al ser humano como especie. To understand the perception that current industrial design students have regarding older adults, a group of 61 students from the Center for Industrial Design Research (CIDI) at the National Autonomous University of Mexico was administered the Negative Stereotype Assessment Questionnaire for Aging (CENVE); additionally, positive aspects perceived by the students about this population group were explored and categorized by frequency index. It was found that 83% of participants have a negative perception of older adults. Diseñar pensando en la nueva longevidad humana requiere de una visión abierta y alejada de estereotipos sobre los usuarios finales, con la finalidad de conocer la percepción que los actuales diseñadores y diseñadoras industriales en formación tienen con respecto a las personas mayores, se aplicó, a un grupo de 61 estudiantes del Centro de Investigaciones de Diseño Industrial (CIDI) de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, el Cuestionario de Evaluación de Estereotipos Negativos hacia la Vejez (CENVE), además se indagaron los aspectos positivos que el estudiantado percibe sobre este grupo poblacional, categorizándolos por índice de frecuencia. Conditional analysis for land subsidence hazard zoning: a case study in the Aguascalientes Valley. Zonificación del peligro de subsidencia mediante análisis condicional. This study analyzes the phenomenon in the Aguascalientes Valley through a comprehensive approach combining spatial, statistical, and probabilistic analysis. Based on data from piezometric drawdown and vertical ground deformation, a risk zoning scheme was developed using nine geotechnical classes resulting from the combination of three levels of drawdown and three levels of land subsidence. In addition to mapping geotechnical regimes, Bayes' Theorem was applied to estimate the conditional probability of subsidence under different drawdown conditions. Results indicate that the minimum probability of moderate or severe subsidence is 66.7%, increasing to 91.9% in areas with high drawdown. Even in areas without recent drawdown, 75% of sites exhibit ground deformation, while only 1.57% of the territory remains completely stable, with neither drawdown nor subsidence. These findings suggest that the relationship between drawdown and subsidence is not linear nor exclusive, and that cumulative consolidation, lithological properties, and subsurface heterogeneity also play a significant role. The proposed methodology is transferable to other regions facing subsidence hazards and provides a practical tool for supporting risk management, preventive monitoring, and sustainable urban planning. La subsidencia inducida por el abatimiento del nivel freático representa una amenaza creciente para las ciudades asentadas en acuíferos sobreexplotados. Este estudio analiza el fenómeno en el Valle de Aguascalientes mediante un enfoque integral que combina análisis espacial, estadístico y probabilístico. A partir de datos de abatimiento piezométrico y deformación vertical del terreno, se desarrolló una zonificación de peligro compuesta por nueve clases, resultado de combinar tres niveles de abatimiento y tres de hundimiento. Además de mapear los regímenes geotécnicos, se aplicó el Teorema de Bayes para estimar la probabilidad condicional de hundimiento bajo distintas condiciones de abatimiento. Los resultados indican que la probabilidad mínima de hundimiento moderado o severo es de 66.7 %, alcanzando hasta 91.9 % en zonas con alto abatimiento. Incluso en áreas sin abatimiento, el 75 % de los sitios presentan deformación, mientras que solo el 1.57 % del territorio se mantiene completamente estable desde el punto de vista hidrogeológico, sin abatimiento ni subsidencia. Estos hallazgos indican que la relación entre el abatimiento y la subsidencia no es lineal ni exclusiva, y que factores como la consolidación acumulada, las propiedades litológicas y la heterogeneidad del subsuelo también inciden en el fenómeno. La metodología propuesta es transferible a otras regiones con riesgo de subsidencia, y ofrece una herramienta práctica para la gestión del riesgo, el monitoreo preventivo y la planificación urbana. Viability of ventilated facades in educational environments: Environmental characterization of a vulnerable classroom Viabilidad de fachadas ventiladas en espacios educativos: caracterización ambiental de un aula vulnerable Ramírez Trejo, María Fernanda Hernández Zaragoza, Juan Bosco López Lara, Teresa Optimización Confort Diseño pasivo Bioclimática Neuroarquitectura Comfort Passive design Optimization Bioclimatic Neuroarchitecture This work presents an applied research study using a case study methodology to analyze the feasibility of implementing ventilated façades as a passive strategy to improve thermal, visual, and acoustic comfort in educational spaces. The analysis was conducted in a classroom at the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, characterized by high solar exposure and external noise incidence. Through in-situ measurements of temperature, relative humidity, illuminance, and sound pressure levels, the obtained data were compared against national and international standards, as well as specialized literature, identifying significant environmental deficiencies such as overheating, elevated noise levels, and marked variations in natural lighting. The results indicate that ventilated façades constitute a viable construction solution for simultaneously optimizing indoor comfort and energy efficiency, providing evidence that supports the integration of passive strategies in the design and retrofitting of vulnerable educational environments in warm and semi-arid contexts. Este estudio expone una investigación aplicada mediante un estudio de caso, que analiza la viabilidad de implementar fachadas ventiladas como estrategia pasiva para mejorar el confort térmico, lumínico y acústico en espacios educativos. El análisis se realizó en un aula de la Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, caracterizada por su alta exposición solar y la incidencia de ruido exterior. Mediante mediciones in situ de temperatura, humedad relativa, iluminancia y presión sonora, los datos obtenidos se compararon con normativa nacional e internacional, así como con literatura especializada, identificándose deficiencias ambientales significativas como sobrecalentamiento, niveles sonoros elevados y variaciones marcadas en la iluminación natural. Los resultados indican que las fachadas ventiladas constituyen una solución constructiva viable para optimizar tanto las condiciones de confort como el desempeño térmico del edificio, aportando evidencia que respalda la integración de estrategias pasivas en el diseño y rehabilitación de entornos educativos vulnerables en contextos cálidos y semiáridos. Resignification of the subjective experience of death from Neuroarchitecture in the necropolis Resignificación de la experiencia subjetiva sobre la muerte desde la Neuroarquitectura en la necrópolis Barrera Sánchez, Moisés Battisti López, Perla Eleonora Experiencia subjetiva Muerte Neuroarquitectura Enfoque fenomenológico Necrópolis Subjective experience Death Neuroarchitecture Phenomenological approach Necropolis Mexican culture is characterized by embracing death as an essential part of life, and this symbolization of the experience takes on cultural meaning, considering it a way of inhabiting the funerary space through introspective meaning. The construction of the experience in the cemetery is cognitively constituted by the walks, in addition to the exogenous response to what is perceived in the visual and architectural environment. Using a phenomenological approach, we understand the experience of walkers in different cemeteries in the city of Puebla from an emotional, perceptual, and sensorial perspective. The aim is resignifying the subjective experience of grief and its emotional impact through a neuroarchitectural perspective of the necropolis. This theoretically supported research emerges as a first approach to questioning the perspective and design of funerary spaces, taking into consideration the cultural value they safeguard and the chronotropic approach they reflect, recognizing the Mexican vision of death and neuroarchitecture as elements that make these spaces contribute to psychological well-being after the loss of a loved one. La cultura mexicana se caracteriza por el cobijo de la muerte como parte esencial de la vida y esa simbolización de la experiencia cobra sentido culturalmente, considerando una forma de habitar el espacio funerario a través de una significación introspectiva. La construcción de la experiencia en el cementerio se constituye cognitivamente por los caminares, además de la respuesta exógena sobre lo percibido en el entorno plástico y arquitectónico. Mediante un enfoque fenomenológico se comprende la experiencia de los caminantes en distintos cementerios de la ciudad de Puebla desde lo emocional, perceptual o sensorial; con el objetivo de resignificar la experiencia subjetiva sobre el duelo y el impacto emocional a partir de la visión de la necrópolis desde la neuroarquitectura. Esta investigación con respaldo teórico, surge como un primer acercamiento sobre cuestionarse la perspectiva y diseño de espacios funerarios, tomando en consideración el valor cultural que resguardan y el enfoque cronotrópico que reflejan, reconociendo la visión mexicana de la muerte y la neuroarquitectura, como elementos para hacer que estos espacios contribuyan al bienestar psicológico tras la pérdida de un ser querido. Health, Meta-Design and Complex Systems: Notes for a Pedagogy of Play Salud, Meta-Diseño y Sistemas Complejos: Apuntes para una Pedagogía del Juego Alatorre Guzmán, Diego Aprendizaje a través del juego Diseño participativo Prospectiva especulativa Play-based learning Participatory Design Prospective Speculation With the aim of recognizing design as an irreplaceable complement to disciplinary practice, through which we imagine, build, and sustain more enjoyable and healthy lifestyles, our journey follows a historical perspective that frames the evolution of medical practice through scientific discoveries and the technology that resulted from them. I then present the paradox that justifies modernity: by an industrial culture of innovation, production, centralization, and consumption, which at the same time propagates a profound crisis tied to both social and individual health, and therefore must be addressed in parallel. In the search to transcend the normative and individual concept of health, the third section explores different perspectives on therapeutic practice, supporting the ecological conception of health and discussing the relationship between health and creativity through participatory practices, where therapists and patients reflect on the connection between their inner and outer worlds. Building on these ideas, the fourth section recognizes the political character of creativity through the concept of meta-design, enabling the transformation of the discipline based on the needs and expectations of the people involved. Section five presents a prospective scenario where I speculate about the future of participatory design, from the pedagogy of play, as a way to address complexity in diverse environments and with the intention of sustaining collective relationships for mutual learning, linking academia with its surrounding communities. Finally, the conclusions aim to recognize emotions and attitudes as ways to strengthen bonds of respect and trust, which are fundamental to re-signifying educational spaces through play. Con el objetivo de reconocer el diseño como un complemento transversal a la práctica disciplinar en tanto que integra la forma en que imaginamos, sostenemos y reconstruimos el mundo, el presente estudio comienza haciendo una reconstrucción histórica que encuadra la evolución de la práctica médica a través de los descubrimientos científicos y la tecnología generada a consecuencia de éstos. A continuación expongo la paradoja que justifica la modernidad, por medio de una cultura industrial de innovación, producción, centralización y consumo, que al mismo tiempo propaga una profunda crisis vinculada tanto a la salud social como a la individual, y por lo tanto deben ser abordadas en paralelo. En la búsqueda por trascender el concepto normativo e individual de la salud, la tercera sección aborda diferentes perspectivas de la práctica terapéutica, justificando la concepción ecológica de la salud y discutiendo la relación entre la salud y la creatividad a partir de prácticas participativas, donde terapeutas y pacientes reflexionan en torno al vínculo entre el mundo interno y el externo. A partir de estas ideas, la cuarta sección reconoce el carácter político de la creatividad a través del meta-diseño que permite la transformación de la disciplina creativa a partir del estudio de las necesidades y de las expectativas de las personas involucradas en proyectos. La sección cinco presenta un escenario prospectivo a través del cual especulo en torno al porvenir, exponiendo el diseño participativo desde la pedagogía del juego, como una manera para abordar la complejidad en ambientes complejos, con la intención de coordinar proyectos de mutuo aprendizaje, vinculando a la academia con sus comunidades aledañas.
